Damage has and will always play a huge role in motorsports. In longer races, the ability to repair vehicles plays a huge role in the outcome of races. rFactor did well in some areas, like repairing body word and wings on cars. Some things that I would like to see in rFactor 2
Repairable Suspension – In many crashes, vehicles can aquire suspension damage. In some forms of motorsports, cars can be towed back to the pits (IRacing has this feature), where they can be fixed. Of course this takes a good deal of time to tow and repair a car, but it should be a feature of rfactor 2. I race in a league that features 4-8 hour endurance races, and like in real life, many would agree that it would be better to spend 20 minutes in the pits to fix a car than to retire.
Repairable Brakes – One of the huge disappointments for me has been that in rfactor, you cannot replace or repair brakes. Once their gone, theyre gone! This is not so in real life, nor should it be in sim racing. In many endurance races, such as Le Mans and Sebring, cars are brought back to the pits during the race when they feel brake fade. The pit crew works hard and replaces the rotors and pads. Within 10 minutes, the car is back out with no more brake problems. Rfactor 2 should feature repairable brakes.
Repairable engine – Not a full engine swap, but in many cases, cars have issues with their radiator, and the car overheats, or the car has a mise fire. Either way, its repairable in real life. Naturally, this would be a good feature for rfactor 2.
